James Marks Academy Vacancies (Welwyn Garden City)

ICT Teacher

ICT Teacher

Please note this role is based in either Hemel Hempstead AND/ OR Welwyn Garden City.

The James Marks Academy, The Commons, Welwyn Garden City, Herts, AL7 4RU

Roman Fields, 11 Box Lane, Hemel Hempstead, HP3 0DF

Tel: 01442 256915

Pay: MPS to UPS3 + SEN1

Hours: Hours Negotiable

Start Date: September 2024

A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen to join our small Trust as ICT Teacher. This role is based in either one of our two provisions: the long-established Roman Fields in Hemel Hempstead OR the brand new James Marks Academy in Welwyn. If you are able to work in both provisions an arrangement will be made that will ensure this is reflected in your pay/working conditions. If you are not able to work across both provisions, please still apply, but only if you want to work part-time, or you are able to teach a second subject.

Our pupil cohort is best described, in the words of HCC as those pupils with high anxiety and ASC for whom a traditional SEMH school would be deemed inappropriate. The pupil cohort is typically average to high ability, although we are inclusive of all, so the candidate needs to have the ability to teach ICT up to GCSE, A-Level is clearly preferable. We have purpose built ICT suites.

Our small MAT, offers significant career progression for the right candidate. Our founder school, Roman Fields is graded Ofsted ‘outstanding’ and holds the National Autistic Societies ‘Specialist, Advanced’ award. Roman Fields was joined by Forest House in September 2022, with the new JMA making up just three educational provisions in the Trust. If you want to work in a supportive environment that offers unimaginable personal and professional satisfaction, due to the incredible outcomes our vulnerable pupils achieve academically, personally and socially, then you simply need to apply because you will not be disappointed.

The successful applicant will join our team of experienced teachers and tutors and teach small groups. You must be proactive in your approach, working closely with parents, our staff team and other agencies. This role offers work life-balance in abundance, administration tasks are kept to a minimum and smaller groups mean teachers have the opportunity to focus on our priorities, building relationships and delivering quality first teaching.

We'd love you to visit - please contact Mandy Crow - 01442 256915 (ext. 203) term time only to arrange a visit.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share in this obligation. The successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure by the DBS.

Visit available any time prior to the closing date.

Applications Close: 16th May 2024

Drama Tutor

Drama Tutor at the James Marks Academy

c/o Roman Fields Academy, Box Lane, Hemel Hempstead, Herts, HP3 0DF
Tel: 01442 256915

Pay:                 £19,008 - £22,306 (based on 5 days a week)

Start Date:      September 2024

Location:         Welwyn Garden City

This post offers the opportunity to:

Shape the Drama curriculum and learning in an award-winning trust.

Work with a committed and stable staff body, with retention rates that have been around 95% for the past 4 years?

Have a significant (we usually say ‘dramatic’...) positive impact on the lives of young people with diverse needs.

This role offers an exceptional chance for a dynamic, motivated and imaginative individual to leave a lasting impact on our group of schools. You will have the support of our experienced staff and the flexibility to tailor the curriculum to the needs of the pupils. The main focus would be to deliver lessons to pupils to nurture their drama skills, especially their ability to develop their emotional range, voice, diction and collaboration. We want to inspire our pupils to perform and develop their confidence.

Experience in the field of SEN is not necessary because we feel we can support the professional development of any dedicated practitioner. What is absolutely essential, however, is a commitment to high expectations.

This post is part-time at the James Marks Academy, a brand new free school located in Welwyn Garden City. However, there is the opportunity to work up to full-time across the Trust. At the JMA the role is 0.4 FTE but this could be supplemented with a similar allocation to our other schools (Roman Fields and Forest House) making the role potentially 1.0 FTE.

If you want a better understanding of the views of current parents and staff, please see the NAS report and the staff survey feedback on our website. Both were completed anonymously in January 2023.

Visits available any time prior to the closing date.
